NEC would knot the game at 1-1 just 10 seconds into the second period as Ashley Bonner would score her first goal of the season assisted by Marisa Roth and Aubrey Fischer.

UMass Boston would regain the lead at the 6:08 mark as Jane Morrisette (Pembroke, Mass.) would gain control of the puck off a faceoff and fire a shot that would ricochet off an NEC defender and in.  The Pilgrims would respond with a goal at the 14:15 mark as Alexi Serverance would net her first of the season assisted by Demi Latham.  The Beacons would get the final tally of the second period as Sara Alonardo (Wilmington, Mass.) would redirect in a shot by Jess Salisbury (North Smithfield, R.I.) with just over four minutes remaining on the clock.

NEC would take advantage of a 5-on-3 opportunity early in the third period as Morgan Braniff would score assisted by Andrea St. Onge.  UMass Boston would have an answer scoring three straight goals over a 10 minute span, including goals by Kayla Kiernan (North Smithfield, R.I.), Michaela Faia (Malden, Mass.) and Alyssa Sullivan (Medford, Mass.).

The Pilgrims would not give up as NEC would cut the lead to 6-4 at the 17:43 thanks to a Marisa Roth power-play goal and follow that score with another power-play goal this time by Morgan Braniff.  NEC would get another power-play in the final minute of play but UMass Boston would be able to hold NEC edging out the Pilgrims 6-5.

The Beacons finished the game out shooting NEC 48-26.  The Pilgrims finished the game 3-for-8 on the power-play, while the Beacons were 1-of-5 with the skater advantage.

The Beacons will host Plymouth State University tomorrow at 5 p.m. in the Beacons Ice Arena
