BOSTON, Mass.—UMass Boston women's hockey coaching staff announced their 2013-14 schedule Tuesday afternoon. The Beacons schedule features 25 games, including eight non-conference matchups-highlighted by the Beacons first ever contest against national power University of St. Thomas (Minn.).
Head coach Colleen Harris' team is looking to build off a season in which they finished 9-14-4 and made it to the ECAC East Tournament semifinals, despite dealing with numerous injuries throughout the season.
The Beacons open the season on the road Friday November 1 at 7 p.m. when they take on ECAC East foe St. Anselm College. After a non-conference matchup November 8 at Franklin Pierce University, the 2013-14 squad will make their home debut Tuesday November 12, when they take on the University of New England at 7 p.m.
After four consecutive ECAC East Conference contests, UMass Boston will wrap up their non-conference schedule with six of their next seven games coming out of conference.
The Beacons will take on three NESCAC foes to close out 2013 with games against Bowdoin College (November 26), Colby College (December 1) and Trinity College (Conn.) (December 7).
UMass Boston will open 2014 with a string of eight consecutive home games, starting with the 7th Annual Codfish Bowl Tournament beginning January 2. The Beacons will take on Stevenson University at 1 p.m. in the first semifinal, before Connecticut College and Neumann University take the ice at 4 p.m.
The Beacons will wrap up their non-conference schedule Tuesday January 7, when they host the University of St. Thomas (Minn). The Tommies have been a mainstay in the top 10 nationally over the past decade and sport a 173-72-20 record since the 2002-03 season.
From there, UMass Boston will play five straight ECAC East home games, before finishing the year with four of their final six games on the road. UMass Boston will wrap up the season Saturday February 15 at 1 p.m. when they take on the University of Southern Maine Huskies.
