Chanté Bonds returns to the Beacons coaching staff for her third season in 2018-19.
Bonds has only seen success with the Beacons program, after rejoining UMass Boston for the 2017-18 season. The Beacons enjoyed their best season in program history during the 2017-18 season, as they won 25 games and earned their first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Bonds was an assistant with the Beacons during head coach Kris Baugh's first season (2015-16). During the 2015-16 season, the Beacons recorded their third-most wins in program history (16) and made it all the way to the Little East Conference Championship Game
A standout basketball player in her own right, Bonds played four seasons with Division II Bentley University from 2001-2005. She was named a two-year captain and helped the team to the 2003 Division II Final Four. As a senior, Bonds was named the Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year and a finalist for the V Foundation Comeback Award: given to the athlete or individual who has overcome adversity in a life, health or moral dilemma.
Bonds comes to the Beacons with eight years of coaching experience at the Division I level. She spent three years as an assistant coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, before returning to Massachusetts for stints with the College of Holy Cross (three seasons) and UMass Lowell (one season).
Last season with the Riverhawks, she was the team’s Basketball Recruiting Coordinator and was responsible for coordinating all aspects of recruiting, monitoring student-athletes academic progress and creating game strategies before each contest.
While at Fairleigh Dickinson, Bonds earned her Masters in Administrative Science in 2010.
