Jackson Takes Home First Career LEC Player of the Week Award

PAWTUCKET, R.I.—After putting together yet another clutch performance, UMass Boston women's basketball junior Jalani Jackson (Brockton, Mass.) was named the Little East Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. 

The junior guard recorded 12 of her team-high 22 points in the final 3:22 of regulation on Sunday, to lead UMass Boston past the U.S. Coast Guard Academy 74-69.

Jackson hit the go-ahead layup with 2:24 to play to give the Beacons the lead for good and hit all six of her free throws in the final 30 seconds. 

For the game, she shot 6-11 from the field and a perfect 10-10 from the charity stripe. Jackson also tacked on four rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes of action. 

She leads the entire Little East Conference with her 23.8 points per game and has recorded 20 or more points all four of her appearances. Jackson also sits second in the LEC with her 90.9 percent mark from the free throw line and fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (40.9 percent). 

UMass Boston will open LEC play on Wednesday night, when they host the University of Southern Maine at 5:30 p.m.
