BOSTON, Mass.—For the second-time in program history, UMass Boston women's basketball earned a spot in the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Rankings last week.
The Beacons earned their first-ever recognition last winter, when they came in 12th out of 12 teams in the third and final regional ranking.
This year's team came in a program-record best 11th last week, when the first NCAA Regional Rankings were posted.
UMass Boston is ranked second amongst Little East Conference squads, behind only sixth-ranked UMass Dartmouth. The Beacons slotted in just behind Smith College (#10) and ahead of Emmanuel College (#12).
The Beacons are 2-0 this year against ranked teams in the Northeast and 2-1 overall. UMass Boston earned road wins over #6 UMass Dartmouth (75-72) and #12 Emmanuel College (80-69). The team's lone loss came to nationally-ranked University of Scranton (71-40)-who is ranked second in the Mid-Atlantic.
UMass Boston will play their fourth regionally-ranked game of the season on Wednesday, when they host UMass Dartmouth at 5:30 p.m.
