BOSTON, Mass.—The UMass Boston women's basketball coaching staff announced their 2013-14 schedule early Thursday morning. UMass Boston is looking to build upon their 2012-13 season, in which the Beacons reached the Little East Conference Tournament for a second consecutive season and finished with the second most wins in program history (14).
The Beacons schedule includes five teams that competed in the postseason during the 2012-13 season and UMass Boston's first ever game against Husson University.
Fifth-year head coach Courtney Mattingly's squad will open the season at Simmons College on Tuesday November 19, in the first matchup between the two Boston schools since November 20, 2004.
UMass Boston will stay on the road and look to win their third straight regular season tournament, when they travel to Middletown, Connecticut for the Courtyard by Marriot Tournament on November 22 and 23.
The Beacons will play their home opener Tuesday November 26 at 5:30 p.m., when they host Fitchburg State University at the Clark Athletic Center. The contest is the first of three straight home games for UMB, capped off by their Little East Conference opener against Keene State College December 7 at 1:00 p.m.
December also includes non-conference matchups against Mount Ida College, Westfield State University and a home tilt on December 30 against Husson University.
The Beacons will kick off 2014 with two more non-conference trips, traveling to Salve Regina University on January 2 and Brandeis University on January 6.
From there, the Beacons jump back into Little East Conference play, with 12 of their final 14 games coming against Little East foes. UMass Boston wraps up their season Saturday February 22 with a trip to Western Connecticut State University at 1 p.m.
