BIDDEFORD, Maine—Behind a tremendous race from senior Cameron Chase (Lutz, Fla.), men's cross country put together an impressive showing in their season-opening meet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Chase put together one of his best showings since his sophomore season. After missing his entire junior year, Chase returned to action last year, but only beat his showing in Saturday's opener one time a season ago.
The fifth-year senior placed 21st overall and tops on the Beacons' roster with a time of 28:15.8 across the five-mile course.
Freshman Jon Symons (Northbrough, Mass.) added a strong performance of his own, as he placed 53rd overall with a time of 29:14 in his collegiate debut.
Senior Prosper Lubega (Watertown, Mass.) finished third amongst all Beacons runners. He crossed the finish line in 30:03.
Sophomore Anthony Lynch (Brockton, Mass.) was the next Beacon to finish, as he ended the race in 34:53.
Senior Jonathan Reed (Abington, Mass.) was the final Beacon to score points on Saturday. He came in fifth on the team with a time of 38:07.1.
Sha Anwar (Wakefield, Mass.) and newcomer Alejandro Maldonado also competed in Saturday's season-opening race.
UMass Boston will travel to UMass Dartmouth on Saturday at 11 a.m. for the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs Invitational.
