DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Sophomore Jimmy Cannon (Quincy, Mass.) got his 2018 season off to a solid start as the Beacons top runner posted a 62nd place finish at the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs Invitational Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Cannon picked-up right where he left off in 2017 as he posted the top time for the Beacons. He crossed the finish line with a time of 26:59.59 to lead the squad in one of the top regional meets.
William Barrett (Everett, Mass.) and Prosper Lubega (Watertown, Mass.) recorded the second and third fastest times for UMass Boston respectively. Barrett tripped the sensor with a time of 28:04.37 to earn 128th place. Lubega finished right behind his teammate with a time of 28:21.87 to finish in 136th place overall.
Cameron Chase (Lutz, Fla.), who was sidelined all last season due to an injury, made his return to the distance trails on Saturday. The senior posted a time of 29:31.57 as he looks to make his way back for his final season as a Beacon.
The Beacons will be back in action next Saturday when they compete at the Codfish Bowl in Franklin Park.
