DARTMOUTH, Mass. – In their second meet of the outdoor campaign, the men's track and field team posted a solid team finish as the Beacons finished in sixth place out of 20 teams at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Invitational Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Newcomer Christian Hodgson (Leeds, Mass.) was one of the Beacons top finishers in Saturday's regional meet, as the freshman recorded a sixth place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.50 seconds. He also helped the 4x400-meter relay team to a third place finish as the team of Hodgson, Jonathan Hodge (Waltham, Mass.), Prosper Lubega (Watertown, Mass.) and Adrian Higgins (Milton, Mass.) recorded a combined time of 3:38.00.
Jimmy Cannon (Quincy, Mass.) took home a second place finish in the long 10,000-meter run as the sophomore finished with a time of 33:47.95. Higgins posted a third-place time in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.64.
Logan Mitchell (Franklin, Mass.) registered an impressive jump of 20-03.00 feet to take sixth in the long jump, while in the triple jump Mitchell finished in fourth place with a final distance of 42-09.75 feet. Xavier Hill (Hyde Park, Mass.) also earned a top-8 finish in the triple jump as he finished in seventh place with a final jump of 41-11.25 feet.
Cameron Chase (Lutz, Fla.) tripped the sensor with a time of 16:16.66 to earn an eighth place finish in the 5,000-meter run.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Hill, Khorey James (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica), William Hua (Dorchester, Mass.), and Mitchell finished a combined time of 46.33 to earn seventh place.
Julian Collins (Asheville, N.C.) finished with a ninth-place finish in the discus throw following a throw of 119-07 feet. The Beacons lone thrower also posted an eighth place finish in the hammer throw, as his best toss was marked at 133-06 feet.
The Beacons will compete at the Carla Coffey Invitational next Saturday at Smith College.
