ROXBURY, Mass. – In what has become one of the top meets in the city of Boston, the Beacons hosted the 5th Annual Indoor Open Saturday afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Having a huge day in her first collegiate meet was freshman sprinter Wadeline Jonathas (Gonaives, Haiti) who won the 200 and 400 meter dashes, as well as setting a new meet record in the 400. Jonathas crushed the competition in the 200 with her time of 25.65 seconds, which was .09 seconds away from matching the meet record. In the 400, Jonathas broke the meet record set by two-time National Champion Hulerie McGuffie '16 with a time of 57.71 seconds.
Lexy Bean (Danvers, Mass.) also had a strong showing as the sophomore posted a fourth place finish in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.11 seconds. Adrianna Fredo (Brockton, Mass.) led the Beacons distance runners, as the junior posted a fourth place of her own in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 3:30.23. In the long jump, the reigning Little East Conference Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year Taylor Driggers (Lisbon, Conn.) posted a final distance of 16-11.50 feet to earn third, with Jonathas right behind her in fourth place with a jump of 16-10.00 feet.
On the men's side, Dom Nda (Pittsfield, Mass.) collected his first top-5 finish of the year, as he posted a time of 7.02 seconds to earn fourth place in the 60-meter dash. Right behind him newcomer Bless Amedoadzi (Boston, Mass.) finished in fifth place with a strong time of 7.11 seconds.
In the 200-meter dash, Stefan Powell (Hyde Park, Mass.) posted a third place finish overall, with his time of 22.88 seconds, followed Nda who finished in seventh (23.11) and Patrick Boua (Pittsfield, Mass.) who finished in eighth (23.23). Boua also took sixth place in the 400 with his time of 52.16 seconds.
Freshman Terry Williams (Saint Mary's, Ga.) made his indoor debut on Saturday and earned an 11th place finish in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:48.70. Jon Reed (Abington, Mass.) took ninth in the long jump with a final distance of 19-09.00 feet. Xavier Hill (Hyde Park, Mass.) collected a 10th place finish in the same event, with his final distance marked at 19-08.00 feet.
The shot put and weight throw, saw Jacob Hirtle (Hingham, Mass.) record the top throws for the Beacons. In the shot he earned an eighth place finish with a final distance of 43-00.50 feet, while in the weight throw he earned seventh place with a throw of 47-09.00 feet.
The Beacons will compete at the Jay Carisella Invitational next Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.
