PAWTUCKET, R.I.—UMass Boston freshman Nandish Shah (Ahmedabad, India) was named the Little East Conference Player and Rookie of the Week for the first time in his career, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Shah went a perfect 4-0 at first singles and doubles to lead UMass Boston to a 2-0 week and their first conference win of the season.
On Thursday, Shah earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at number one singles and added an 8-4 victory at first doubles, to help the Beacons claim their first win of the spring, an 8-1 decision over Suffolk University.
He was even more impressive on Saturday in his conference play debut. Shah teamed up with Alexander Comerchero (Brookline, Mass.) for an 8-1 win at number one doubles and then he tacked on a 6-1, 6-0 dominant win at first singles against the University of Southern Maine.
Overall, Shah dropped just three games across four sets in singles play and five games in doubles.
The Beacons will return to action on Tuesday, when the Beacons travel to take on Salem State University at 3:30 p.m. in a rematch of the 2018 LEC Title Match.
