PAWTUCKET, R.I.—After posting a pair of conference shutouts, UMass Boston senior goalie Omar Castro-Dreher (Woonsocket, R.I.) was named the Little East Conference Goalie of the Week for the first time this season, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The weekly honors marked the fifth LEC Goalie of the Week award of his career.
Castro-Dreher made five saves over 200 minutes, to lead the Beacons to a 1-0-1 week in conference play.
On Tuesday night, Castro-Dreher made three saves in a 1-0 win over intra-state rival UMass Dartmouth. With the win, he tied Alfonso Rosales ('15) for the program record for career victories (32).
He tacked on two more saves in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Plymouth State University.
Castro-Dreher owns the career program record for goalies for games played (59), games started (57), minutes played (5258:24) and goals against average (0.89). He also ranks sixth in saves (212) and tied for seventh in save percentage (.803).
The Beacons will return to action on Wednesday night, when they travel to Curry College for a non-conference game at 6:30 p.m.
