CASTLETON, Vt. – Three different players found the back of the net as men's soccer completely dominated Little East Conference opponent Castleton University to earn a 3-0 victory Saturday afternoon at Dave Walk Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons jumped out an early 1-0 lead in the 13th minute thanks to a Nilton de Andrade (Fogo, Cape Verde) goal off of a Gerardo Castaneda assist. UMass Boston would settle for the lone goal in the opening half, despite outshooting the host Spartans 16-6.
After the break, Riven Rodrigues (Brockton, Mass.) and Rafael DeSouza (Watertown, Mass.) would each in the span of two minutes to seal the victory for the Beacons. Both goals were the first of the year for the two players.
The Beacons would once again dominate in the offensive third in the second totaling 14 shots, while the defense only allowed four over the final 45 minutes.
Between the posts Omar Castro Dreher (Woonsocket, R.I.) made four saves to collect his league leading third shutout of 2019.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The Beacons also held a 9-7 advantage in corner kicks in Saturday's win
- UMass Boston finished the contest with 11 shots on goal, while Castleton managed just four

The Beacons will face Bridgewater State University on Monday at 7 p.m. in a non-conference match.
