de Andrade Named the Little East Conference Player of the Week

PAWTUCKET, R.I.—After a huge week, UMass Boston junior forward Nilton de Andrade (Fogo, Cape Verde) was named the Little East Conference Men's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

de Andrade recorded three goals and four assists to lead the Beacons to a pair of non-conference victories.

The junior put together a career showing on Tuesday night in UMass Boston's 7-1 win over Emerson College. de Andrade posted his first hat trick as a Beacon and added a career-high three assists for a career-best, nine-point game. He finished his hat trick by the 33rd minute and had a hand in each of the Beacons' first six goals.

de Andrade followed up his massive performance by recording the lone assist on the game-winning goal, in Saturday's 1-0 road win over Salve Regina University.

He leads the Little East Conference with his five assists and ranks tied for second with 13 points and tied for third with four goals.

UMass Boston will return to action on Thursday night, when they travel to Worcester State University for their final non-conference tune-up before LEC play begins.
