Redler and Albano Recognized As All-Region Players

BOSTON, Mass.—UMass Boston junior forward Nolan Redler (Winchester, Mass.) and sophomore defenseman Nick Albano (Beverly, Mass.) earned spots on the New England Hockey Writers Association All-Star Team, the group announced on Monday. 

The Beacons duo are both repeat winners, after also being recognized last spring. UMass Boston was one of four teams to have multiple honorees and the only New England Hockey Conference side with two award winners. 

Redler stepped up as the number one scoring option as a junior, as he finished the season with a team-high 15 goals, 19 assists and 34 points. In 28 contests, Redler registered six power-play goals, two game-winning goals and a +11 +/- rating. 

The Second Team All-American paced the entire NEHC in points (34) and points per game (1.21) and also finished tied for first in power-play goals (six) and power-play points (14). He posted at least one point in 17 of his 28 appearances and finished with multiple points 11 times. He started the year off by scoring the game-winning goal in two of the Beacons first three games and recorded eight points in the team's first four contest. The junior forward closed out the regular season with the best game of his career, as he netted a career-best four goals and six total points against rival Babson College.  

Albano continues to rack up the accolades, as he takes home his second-straight All-Region honors to go along with four total All-American awards. The Beacons top-line defenseman posted six goals, 16 assists and 22 points in 27 contests. He also tacked on three power-play goals, two game-winning tallies and recorded an +11 +/- rating. 

He led all NEHC defenseman in points (22) and points per game (0.81) and finished third in power-play points (13). He recorded at least one point in 15 contests and posted multiple points four times. Albano put together his best game of the season in the regular season finale, when he recorded a pair of goals and two assists in a 8-4 win over rival Babson College.

In addition to these N.E. Hockey Writers' awards, the April 17 dinner at the Prince Restaurant in Saugus, MA, will feature the presentation of the Gridiron Club of Boston's Walter Brown and Joe Concannon awards, the J. Thom LawlerAward given by the Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Ice Hockey Officials Association and All-Star recogni- tion for other divisions of college hockey in New England.
