#1 Men's Hockey Aims To End #4 Hobart's Run of Championships

BOSTON, Mass.—Top-seeded UMass Boston is looking to dethrone defending New England Hockey Conference Tournament Champions #4 Hobart College, when the two teams meet in the NEHC Semifinal Round. The two teams will play Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink. 


Tickets will be: $5 for general admission, $3 for seniors citizens and non UMass Boston students with ID. UMass Boston students with ID and children under 12 are free.

  1. UMass Boston has never lost to the Statesmen at home. The Beacons are 4-0 all-time against Hobart in Boston, including a 2-1 win last year and a 4-2 win this year. This season, the Beacons are 12-1 at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink, while five of Hobart's six losses have come in true road games (6-5-1). 
  2. Getting to three goals might be the difference in the game. Hobart is 18-0-2 when scoring three or more goals and 0-6-0 when scoring three of less. The Beacons are 19-0-1 when scoring three or more and 0-6-0 when scoring two or fewer. The two teams played to a 3-3 tie in New York three weeks ago. 
  3. Hobart has won 11-straight conference tournament games. The Statesmen won the ECAC West Tournament in each of their final three seasons in the league, before defeating #1 Norwich in last year's NEHC Finals. 
  4. Bailey MacBurnie (Beverly, Mass.) is 2-0 in two career home playoff games. The All-Conference netminder has posted a 1.50 goals against average and a .945 save percentage in two home playoff appearances.
