MARSHFIELD, Mass.—For the first time in his collegiate career, UMass Boston men's hockey freshman forward Jeffrey Skinner (Houston, Texas) was named the New England Hockey Conference Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Skinner recorded a team-best two goals and finished with three points in the #7/9 Beacons' huge 3-point road conference weekend.
In Friday night's win over Skidmore College, Skinner scored a crucial insurance goal in the win over the Thoroughbreds.
On Saturday, he recorded his second career multiple-point game in a 3-3 tie at #14/16 Babson College. Skinner set up the Beacons' second goal and then scored a go-ahead goal in the third-period.
Skinner has recorded three goals and five assists, while playing in all 23 contests this season.
#7/8 UMass Boston will take on rival #16/16 Babson College on Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (4 p.m.) in a home-and-home NEHC series. If the Beacons can earn a win or tie in either contest, UMass Boston will clinch their second NEHC Regular Season Title in four years.
