Tracey Hathaway Named Compliance Officer and Assistant Academic Advisor

BOSTON, Mass. – Vice Chancellor for Athletics and Recreation, Special Projects and Programs Charlie Titus has named Tracey Hathaway as the new Compliance Officer and Assistant Academic Advisor at the University of Massachusetts Boston.

As compliance officer, Hathaway will oversee the NCAA compliance for all 18 varsity sports teams, student-athletes, coaches, athletic staff, and all appropriate university personnel. She will also monitor the NCAA-mandated requirements as well as all the rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA. As assistant academic advisor, she will work with The Athletic Academic Counselor  to provide support for student-athletes in assigned sports.

“We are thrilled to have someone with Tracey’s level of expertise and experience joining our division. I am confident that her work and contributions will allow us to further define the ever-expanding role of compliance at the Division III level of the NCAA. Her role over the next year will be critical to the continued growth of our programs and staff,” said Titus.

Hathaway comes to Boston after working for the last two years at Concordia University Texas in Austin. At Concordia, she served as the senior woman administrator (SWA) and assistant athletic director (AAD) for the 13 NCAA Division III varsity sports. Among her responsibilities while serving as SWA and AAD was supervision and implementation of new strategies to help develop the athletic department as a whole.

No stranger to New England institutions, Hathaway has also worked at Northeastern University as a compliance assistant and at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island, where she served as the head women’s basketball coach and compliance coordinator.

Hathaway is a 1986 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where she received her bachelor of science degree in urban affairs. She also holds a master’s degree in sports leadership from Northeastern University.
