Boston State’s 1979 NCAA National Champion in cross country, Hunt was a pioneer for the Warriors distance programs. A five-time All-American, Hunt carried the Warriors in every season he laced up his shoes. He earned his first national honor in the 1977 campaign, when he posted a 14th place finish at the national cross country championship meet. He would then repeat as an All-American in 1978 with a fourth place finish, before earning the title of national champion in 1979. On the track, he earned All-America honors at the 1978 outdoor national championship in the 10,000 meter run, before earning his second honor at the 1979 outdoor championship with a top-6 finish in the 5,000 meter run.
