PAWTUCKET, R.I. – After another standout showing at Saturday's Springfield College Classic, freshman Wadeline Jonathas (Gonaives, Haiti), and the men's 4x100-meter relay team have been honored by the Little East Conference again.
Jonathas was named the Rookie Track Athlete of the Week, after earning a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.23 seconds. Her time was .05 seconds away from matching the program record, as the All-American made her outdoor debut in the event. To-date, Jonathas sits second in the country in the 400-meter dash (55.50), while her time in the 200-meter dash (24.63) and her program record leap in the long jump (18-10.75 ft) have her sitting eighth in both events respectively.
For the men's 4x1, Bless Amedoadzi (Boston, Mass.), Garth Miriyoga (Johannesburg, South Africa), Dom Nda (Pittsfield, Mass.), and Stefan Powell (Hyde Park, Mass.) set the program record on their way to a first-place finish on Saturday. The four sprinters posted a combined time of 41.94 seconds, breaking the original mark of 42.09, which was set two weeks ago.
