GORHAM, Maine – Led by Kirsten Morrison (North Reading, MA) and sophomore Amber Clemons (Simi Valley, CA) the now 17th ranked Beacons (14-2, 3-0 LEC) cruised to 3-0 (25-6, 25-9, 25-7) Little East Conference victory over the University of Southern Maine (0-11, 0-3 LEC) Tuesday evening at Hill Gymnasium.
Both Morrison and Clemons recorded 11 kills, as the Beacons combined for 47 kills on 71 attempts for a .577 attack percentage. Defensively, UMass allowed a season-low five kills on 25 attempts (-.120 attack percentage).
Also getting into the action in Tuesday’s conference win was Molly Rattigan (Dorchester, MA) and Kayla Wilson (San Jose, CA) who each tallied five kills. Frana Burtness-Adams (Fairbank, AK) led the match with 19 assists, while senior Cassy Hanneman (Denver, CO) totaled 10 assists.
The Beacons most dominant stat came with their 25 service aces. Six different Beacons recorded three or more aces in the win, with Wilson scoring a match-high four.
Volleyball returns to action on Thursday when they travel to Endicott College for a 6 p.m. non-conference match.
