BOSTON, MA - Junior outside hitter Kate McWhorter (Bakersfield, CA) posted a double-double with 11 kills and 13 digs, while hitting .409 for the match and junior libero Megan MacAuley (Upland, CA) fired three aces and added 11 digs to lead the University of Massachusetts Boston volleyball team over visiting Regis College tonight, 25-13, 25-15, 25-12, at the Clark Athletic Center on the campus of UMass Boston. Head Coach Terry Condon records her 50th career victory with UMass Boston and 242nd overall as the Beacons improve to 10-7, while the Pride fall to 9-10.
McWhorter also added a block solo to her night for UMass Boston. Freshman setter Cassy Hanneman (Denver, CO) controlled the offense with 26 assists in addition to an ace, a kill, four digs and a pair of blocks, while freshman middle hitter Molly Rattigan (Dorchester, MA) swung for five kills and an efficient .625 hitting percentage to go with two blocks and senior defensive specialist Alessandra Adamo (Glastonbury, CT) served up a career-high four aces and added four digs.
Senior outside hitter Ashley Paolini (Epping, NH) and junior middle hitter Melissa Frederique (Manchester, NH) led Regis with four kills and an ace apiece. Paolini also got up for a pair of blocks.
The Beacons will be in action again when they travel to Salem, MA on Saturday, October 4 to take on University of Maine-Machias in the first match of the Salem State College Invitational at 10:00 a.m., while the Pride hosts Salve Regina University on October 8 at 7:00 p.m.
