Shannon Desmond rejoins the Beacons' staff for her third season on the sidelines this fall.

Desmond is no stranger to the court having played four years of varsity volleyball in college at two very competitive NCAA Division III institutions. The former libero competed at Western Connecticut State University for two seasons before transferring to Bridgewater Sate College for her final two years of eligibility.

A captain at Bridgewater State, Desmond helped lead the Bears to back-to-back MASCAC championships, two NCAA tournament births and never lost a conference game, going 12-0 in her two seasons at BSC. The standout was selected to the All-Tournament Team at the 2005 Halloween Classic at Springfield College.

At Western Connecticut State, Desmond had stellar freshman and sophomore campaigns, earning Little East Conference honors both years. Following her rookie season in 2003, Desmond was selected to the LEC All-Conference Second Team and was also named the Colonials Rookie of the Year. In 2004, she was named the LEC Defensive Player of the Year, selected to the LEC All-Conference First Team and named the WSCU team MVP.

Desmond graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Bridgewater State College in 2008 and is currently working in the counseling office at the North River School in Rockland, MA.
