Alyssa Broccoli enters her first season with the UMass Boston volleyball team.
The former assistant coach of regionally-ranked and NCAA Regional Tournament finalist SUNY New Paltz, Broccoli joins the Beacons for the 2014 season under co-head coaches Terry Condon and Michael Houlihan.
As an assistant with the Hawks, she helped to the squad to a 2013 SUNY regular season title, and back-to-back (2012 & 2013) appearances in the NCAA Regional tournament championship match. Broccoli was also responsible for the recruitment of high level student-athletes as well as planning the day-to-day for all facets of the program.
While working at SUNY New Paltz, she also served as the head coach of the Hudson Valley Alliance Volleyball Club. She worked primarily with girls between the ages of 15-17, and implemented all practices to teach the fundamentals of the sport of volleyball. She also assisted in the planning and scheduling of tournaments, and individual training sessions.
Broccoli played three seasons at Division II, The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York. She currently sits fourth all-time in career serving percentage with a .943 mark. During her three seasons, she appeared in 67 matches, including 31 in her rookie season. As a freshman, Broccoli led the Golden Knights to the Division II Northeast Regional semi-final, and a 14-0 conference record. They ended that year with a 26-6 record, and were a perfect 11-0 on their home floor.
In the fall of 2009, Broccoli traveled to Australia and played for Bond University as a member of their women’s indoor and beach volleyball teams. In high school she competed in the New York Empire Games in 2005 and 2008.
Broccoli graduated from Saint Rose in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Management.
