BOSTON, Mass. – Led by Lauren Gedney's match-high 21 kills and .436 hitting percentage, the Blue of Wellesley College handed volleyball a 3-1 non-conference loss Friday evening at the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling 25-23 in the first set, the Beacons rallied in the second and had their best showing as they earned a 25-22 win. However, from there it was all Wellesley College as they handed UMB a 25-19 loss in the third set, and a 25-14 loss in the fourth.
Eileen Shi (San Francisco, Calif.) led the Beacons offense with 12 kills, while Emilia Czapiewska (Saint Paul, Minn.) finished second with 11 kills. Alex Gibbs recorded her first career double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Rachel Maslach tallied 26 assists and finished with five digs and kills respectively.
For the Blue, Yasmine Reece dropped in nine kills to help Wellesley extend their win-streak. Michelle Li anchored the offense with her 46 assists, while Samantha Hoang collected 15 digs and one of the team's four service aces.
On the night Wellesley combined for a .378 hitting percentage, while the Beacons struggled over the final two frames after hitting .321 in the second. UMB closed out the night hitting just .174, and also struggled at the service line, as they were charged with 11 service errors.
