Volleyball Looking to Make History at 2013 National Championship Tournament

HOLLAND, Michigan – After pulling off the upset of the NCAA Regional Tournament, volleyball will look to continue their historic season by taking down one of the giants of Division III as they face Calvin College in the first round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament hosted by Hope College at the DeVos Field House.

The match-up is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. from the campus of Hope College on Thursday.  The winner of that match will advance to the semifinal which is scheduled to be played on Friday.  This year's championship match will be played on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Thursday's meeting will mark the second time in program history that the Beacons will face the Knights in the first round of the "Elite Eight".  In 2010 the Beacons dropped a 3-1 decision to Calvin in their first-ever appearance on the national stage.

Since mid-October the Beacons have produced some sensational wins, which gave them the momentum they needed to win their fifth straight Little East Tournament title and second straight NCAA Regional crown last weekend at Williams College.

The Beacons shutout Wellesley College in the first round before taking down Roger Williams University in the semifinal and the host Ephs of Williams College in the championship round.

UMass Boston enters this year's tournament with an all-time record of 12-5.
