NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - For the second time this season the Little East Conference volleyball weekly honors went to three Beacons players, with Megan Pollock (Wilton, Calif.), Elizabeth Glavan (Edina, Minn.) and Julia Murphy (Canton, Mass.) all being honored Monday afternoon by the executive office.
For Pollock she was named the Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after averaging 8.80 assists per game to lead the Beacons to a 3-1 week. She recorded at-least 30 assists in every match including the four-game upset of No. 26 Roger Williams University last Friday evening. On Tuesday, she led UMB to their fifth straight Little East Conference regular season title after tallying 30 helpers in the 3-0 win over Plymouth State University. The senior also finished with a combined 12 kills, one ace, and 25 digs respectively.
Glavan earned her third Defensive Player of the Week selection in 2013 after leading the Beacons with 5.87 digs per game. In two of the four matches, Glavan recorded 20 or more digs and topped off at 31 digs in the 3-2 loss to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Against the Panthers of Plymouth State University, she put-up 20 digs to lead the Beacons to a perfect 7-0 conference record and the number one seed in this year's tournament.
Finally Murphy recorded her third Rookie of the Week selection after posting 2.27 kills and 3.3 points per game for the Beacons. The Canton native registered a .351 hitting percentage to lead all Beacons. Her best performance of the week came when she fired home 10 kills against the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh on Saturday. She finished with nine kills in the 3-0 win over Vassar College to close out the 2013 regular season. Murphy also recorded in the 3-1 week a total of two assists, three aces, and 11 total blocks respectively.
