Saleena Abdur-Rashed enters her first season as an assistant coach of the UMass Boston track and field program.
A former member of the Northeastern University track and field program, Abdur-Rashed will work primarily with the sprinters and hurdlers this season. While at Northeastern, she was amongst the all-time leaders in both the indoor 55 and 60 meter hurdles. To date she ranks fifth in the 55 hurdles with her time of 8.07 seconds, while in the 60 hurdles she is second all-time with a time of 8.51 seconds. While with the outdoor team she ranks in the top-9 all-time in the 100 meter hurdles with times of 13.81 and 14.15 seconds respectively.
Currently pursuing her master’s degree at Northeastern, Abdur-Rashed is also the president and grant writer at Metropolis-Brookline Inc. She currently plans, schedules, and offers travel-related expertise to members’ guardians and is responsible for seeking donations and sponsorship from major corporations. She also currently works with track and field athletes from the ages of 6-18 in the Brookline area as well.
Abdur-Rashed currently has a USATF Level 1 Coaching Education.
