Women’s Track and Field Competes at BU Terrier Classic

BOSTON, Mass. – On the first day of the Boston University Terrier Classic, the women's track and field team took center stage as they competed against some of the top Division I, II, and III programs not only in New England but in the country.

In total there were six personal bests set at Friday's meet. 

To start the afternoon Anisha Trappier (Taunton, Mass.) and Samara Faustin (Boston, Mass.) competed in the 60 meter dash.  Faustin led the way as she finished in 34th place with a time of 8.16 seconds.  Trappier set a new personal best time in the event as she crossed the finish line with a time of 8.21 seconds to earn 41st place overall.

A total of five Beacons competed in the 200 meter dash, with Faustin once again leading UMB with her time of 26.02 seconds to earn 46th place.  Anisha Trappier was right behind her teammate with another personal best time of 26.71 seconds to earn 72nd place. 

Renee O'Brien (Stoneham, Mass.) also set a new personal best in the 200 with a time of 26.77 seconds to take 76th place.  Shannel Trappier (Taunton, Mass.) was the third Beacon in the event to set a new career best time as she crossed the finish line with a new mark of 27.22 seconds.  Brianna Anderson (Lynn, Mass.) closed out the 200 for UMB with her time of 28.29 seconds.

Hulerie McGuffie (Lynn, Mass.) notched a new personal best in the 400 meter dash with her time of 58.37 seconds to earn 30th place.  Alessandra Fiallos (Derby, Conn.), fresh off of her record setting performance last week, closed out the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.56 seconds to earn 78th place.

In the field events, O'Brien earned 32nd place in the high jump with her final height of 4-11.00 feet.  In the long jump Anderson recorded a 35th place finish with a leap of 15-03.25 feet.  Anisha Trappier closed out the event in 43rd place with a final jump of 14-00.50 feet.

The triple jump saw Shannel Trappier earn 33rd place with her new personal best jump of 30-11.75 feet. 

Competing in the throwing events was Nicole Aube (Westfield, Mass.), who earned 48th place with a toss of 34-09.50 feet.  Anitra Kloczewiak (Newton, Mass.) earned 55th place with a final throw of 31-05.25 feet.

The track and field team returns to action tomorrow when the men's team competes at the BU Terrier Classic.
