MEDFORD, Mass. – In what has become an every Saturday occurrence for the UMass Boston track and field team, another three program records fell, two of which belonged to standout and nationally ranked sprinter Kebba Nasso (Attleboro, Mass.), while the other went to distance runner Jake Kerin (Quincy, Mass.), at the Tufts University Stampede Invitational.

Nasso set the program record in the 200 meter dash with his new time of 22.45 seconds, as well as the triple jump with his new distance of 44-10.25 feet. For Kerin, his record setting time came in the 600 meter run with his time of 1:25.55 to earn a sixth place finish in the event.

Saturday's meet started with Brandon Couloute (Shelton, Mass.) competing in the 60 meter dash as posting a time of 7.62 seconds. After Nasso's second place finish and record setting time in the 200, Henry Morales (Chelsea, Mass.) posted a time of 23.25 seconds to finish in sixth place in the event. Norbert Simon (Chelsea, Mass.) was also a top-20 finisher in the 200 with his time of 24.73 seconds.

Andre Malcolm (Cambridge, Mass.) was also a top-20 finisher in the 400 meter dash as he posted a time of 55.22 seconds. Jeff Laurore and Chhenlee Ly (Leominster, Mass.) recorded a 26th and 27th place finish respectfully in the 600 meter run with times of 1:35.66 and 1:35.77.

In the 1,000 meter run Xhulio Uruci (Newton, Mass.) posted a time of 2:45.88 to finish in 14th place. Morales returned to the track to earn a 19th place finish in the 60 meter hurdles with a final time of 9.40 seconds.

Competing in the first 4x200 relay of the indoor season was Nasso, Morales, Ervin Lofton (Ann Arbor, Mich.), and Couloute. The four sprinters recorded a time of 1:36.53 to earn a fourth place finish overall.

In the field events, Tylor Hart (Newton, Mass.) jump his way to a first place finish in the high jump with a height of 6-05.00 feet. Senior Kirby Cole (Shrewsbury, Mass.) recorded a height of 11-07.75 feet in the pole vault to post a 12th place finish.

Simon then took 11th place in the long jump with a final distance of 19-00.00, followed by Hart in 12th place with his jump of 18-09.00 feet. Hamza Abdul (Chelsea, Mass.) recorded a final distance of 38-09.50 in the triple jump to finish in 11th place.

On the women's side Alessandro Fiallos (Derby, Conn.) posted a time of 9.02 seconds to lead the Beacons in the 60 meter dash. Right behind her was Fatima Konteh (Lewis Center, Ohio) who posted a time of 9.08 seconds in the event. Konteh then recorded a time of 31.97 seconds in the 200 meter dash.

In the 400 it was Ari Leao (New Bedford, Mass.) and Samara Faustin (Boston, Mass.) who earned a 13th and 15th place finish respectively with times of 1:03.59 and 1:03.73. Konteh also competed in the field events in Saturday's meet as he posted a 17th place finish in the long jump with a distance of 13-11.75 feet.

Kaity Merrikin (East Bridgewater, Mass.) led UMass Boston in the shot put with her throw of 36-07.00 feet (25th place). Behind her was Chrissy Soares-Fernandes (Brockton, Mass.) with a throw of 25-09.50 feet and Nicole Aube (Westfield, Mass.) with her throw of 25-07.50 feet.

The final event for the women's team, the weight throw, saw Merrikin earn a 25th place finish with her throw of 28-09.00. Behind her was Anitra Kloczewiak (Newton, Mass.) in 26th place with a final throw of 28-08.25 feet.

Track and Field returns will now prepare for the 2012 Little East Conference Indoor Championship meet which is scheduled for next Saturday at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham.
