Women’s Track and Field Record Strong Performances at BU Terrier Classic


BOSTON, Mass - The women's track and field team had another strong afternoon as part of the Boston University Terrier Classic.  Ari Leao (New Bedford, Mass.) qualified for the NCAA Division III New England regional championship meet in both the 200 and 400 meter dashes.

Leao's first qualifying time came in the 200 with her time of 27.41 seconds.  Leading the way in that same event was Samara Faustin (Boston, Mass.) who finished with a time of 25.94 seconds.  Faustin also led the way in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.16 seconds.  Leao's final time of 1:02.15 in the 400 also marked a new personal best for the junior sprinter.

Friday's meet also marked the first meet for newcomers Fatima Konteh (Lewis Center, Ohio) and Alessandra Fiallos (Derby, Conn.).  Konteh competed in both the 60 meter dash and the 200 meter dash.  In the 60, Konteh posted a time of 9.28 seconds, while in the 200 she finished with a time of 31.40 seconds.  Fiallos finished just 3-hundredths of a second behind her new teammate with her final time of 31.43 seconds.

Also competing on Friday was Anitra Kloczewiak (Newton, Mass.) who recorded a final toss of 32-11.00 feet. 

Track and field will return to action tomorrow with the men's team in action at the BU Terrier Classic.
