Harshana Godamanna is already well-known as one of the top players in Asia and brings an impressive tennis resume to Boston in his third season as an Assistant Coach with the Beacons.
The native of Sri Lanka is among the world's ranked players by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and currently holds a 22-10 (.688) singles record on the tour, while owning an outstanding mark of 18-5 (.783) in doubles action on the tour in main draw play for his career. Prior to his move to the pro tour, Godamanna was ranked as high as 228th in the world among junior players in singles play and has been ranked as high as 811th in the world since turning pro. The 26-year old has advanced to as far as the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals of various ATP sanctioned tournaments in singles and doubles play in Pakistan, Indonesia and Thailand.
In addition to being one of the world's top players, Godamanna is Sri Lanka's five-time National Champion and is slated to compete for his home nation in the 2011 Davis Cup. A member of Sri Lanka's Davis Cup team since 2002, the left-hander has been ranked number one for five straight years in Sri Lanka and won a pair of national triple crowns before turning pro in 2006.
