BOSTON, MA - Junior forward Kristi Morales (San Francisco, CA) netted the only goal of the afternoon and sophomore keeper Ashley McRoberts (Merrimack, NH) stopped all 11 shots on net to give the University of Massachusetts Boston women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over visiting Plymouth State University today in a Little East Conference match at the Clark Athletic Center Field. The Beacons improve to 7-10-2 overall and 3-3-1 in LEC play, while the Panthers fall to 5-8-4 and 1-5-1.

The win sets a school-record for victories in a season for UMass Boston, surpassing the 1997 total when it finished 6-10-1. UMB also secures the fourth seed in the LEC tournament and will host University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, November 4 at the Clark Athletic Center in their first-ever playoff contest with the time of play yet to be announced. Plymouth State will be the tournament's sixth seed and travel to third-seeded Keene State College on November 4 for a 6:00 p.m. start.

Freshman forward Julienne McCuish (Mashpee, MA) crossed to Morales, who unleashed a shot from the top of the 18-yard maker that sailed over the keeper and into the back of the net in the far post for her eighth goal of the season for UMass Boston at 18:01 of the first half.

McRoberts registered her second shutout of the campaign for the Beacons, while freshman goalie Angelina LaBroad (Hampton, NH) made five saves for Plymouth State. The Panthers owned a 17-12 shot advantage on the afternoon.
