PAWTUCKET, R.I. – After leading the Beacons to a 1-0-1 week in senior back Jaclyn O'Grady (Somers, Conn.) and freshman midfielder Mary Jo Murphy (Worcester, Mass.) earned Little East Conference Defensive and Rookie of the Week honors.
For O'Grady, she scored the goal of the week in the 2-2 draw with UMass Dartmouth. The Connecticut native, registered the game-tying goal with less than two minutes to play in regulation. O'Grady then nearly ended the game for the Beacons but was stopped by a kick save in the overtime periods. In total O'Grady registered six shots, as UMB sits atop the conference standings through three matches.
Murphy's week consisted of scoring the overtime game-winner against Castleton University, while also assisting on the Beacons first goal against UMass Dartmouth. In the win over Castleton, Murphy netted the game-winner in the 98th minute on a shot that she took from 14 yards out which hit off the post. Against the Corsairs, Murphy made a perfect pass through the middle third of the field, where she found Allie Crawford, who scored a long range shot from 22-yards out.
