The Beacons earned a total of 36 points, as they walk into the 2018 season with a total of 15 freshmen.  Eastern Connecticut State University was picked to repeat as conference champions.  The Warriors collected six of the conference's nine first place votes and totaled 62 points.  Western Connecticut State University was picked second with 58 points and two first place votes.  Keene State College earned the one remaining first place vote and totaled 50 points.

Conference newcomer Castleton University finished fourth on their first LEC preseason poll with 41 points.  After the Beacons Plymouth State University (28 pts), Rhode Island College (22 pts), UMass Dartmouth (18 pts), and the University of Southern Maine (9 pts) rounded out the poll in order respectively.

Head coach Amy Zombeck, who is now in her 14th season at UMB, will welcome back just seven returners from the 2017 squad.  Amongst the Beacons top returners will be backs Eryn Kelly (Plymouth, Mass.), Jaclyn O'Grady (Somers, Conn.), and Taylor Bilyak (Willington, Conn.).

The Beacons will begin their new season on Friday when they travel to Johnson and Wales University for a 6 pm non-conference game.
