NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.—Senior Alli Modzelewski (Newtown, Conn.) and junior Krista Ledin (Bridgewater, Mass.) have been named Little East Conference Players of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Modzelewski was named the Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career, while Ledin picked up her league-leading fourth Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Modzelewski anchored the Beacons backline in a pair of UMass Boston wins, helping the defense limit their opponents to just one goal over two games. In addition to leading the Beacons defense that was without two of their starting defenders, she also added the game-winning goal in UMass Boston's Senior Day win over Rhode Island College.
With the victory, UMass Boston clinched their second consecutive Little East Conference Regular Season Title. UMass Boston will host the winner of #4 Western Connecticut State University and #5 Eastern Connecticut State in the Little East Conference Semifinals Thursday.
Ledin earned the Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week Award for the eighth time in her career, after recording six goals and 12 points in two Beacons' wins.
The junior forward reset her own UMass Boston and Little East program records for goals (32) and points (69) in a single-season, as she recorded hat tricks in both Beacons' wins.
