NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.—Junior Krista Ledin (Bridgewater, Mass.) and freshman KK DaCosta (Brockton, Mass.) have been named the Little East Conference Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
For Ledin it's the third Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season for the junior and seventh of her career. DaCosta picks up her first Rookie of the Year Award and the first for the Beacons since October of 2011, when Ledin last won the award.
Ledin produced one of, if not the greatest week of her three-year career, scoring 10 goals over three games to lead UMB to a 3-0 mark. The junior from Bridgewater, Mass. recorded the game-winning goal in all three contests and picked up two hat tricks.
Monday, Ledin set the UMB program mark for goals and points in a single-game with all five goals in a 5-0 win over Salve Regina University. She added three goals in a win over Western New England University, before scoring two goals Saturday in a 3-2 win at Keene State College. Ledin's game-winner with just over three minutes to play was enough to hand the Owls their first conference loss of the year.
DaCosta continued to be a key player for the Beacons as a freshman, starting all three games and recording two assists.
The freshman back/midfielder helped the Beacons defense hold opponents to 1.00 goals per game in three contests, while recording a career-high two assists in the Beacons 5-1 win over Western New England University.
DaCosta assisted on the Beacons first goal of the day and then added a helper on the game-winning tally.
