Colleen Harris enters her third season as the Head Coach for the
Beacons in 2012-13. A standout college player, Harris has worked
tirelessly on building the women's ice hockey program into a
championship caliber team. In just three seasons, she has brought
in a talented group of players who are driven to improve all facets
of the program.
Prior to being named the Interim Head Coach in 2010-11, Harris
served as the Head Coach of Nichols College in Dudley,
Massachusetts. It was in her first season with the Beacons that she
saw unprecedented success as she led UMass Boston to an impressive
14-11-1 mark with only 16 total skaters on her roster. The unit
compiled several impressive wins including a 3-1 victory over #10
Manhattanville College for the program's first-ever victory over
the ECAC East perennial powerhouse.
From 2004 through 2009, Harris was a member of the Boston College women's ice hockey team that captured three Beanpot Championships, made two NCAA tournament appearances while advancing to the Frozen Four in 2007. She was named the Eagles team captain for the '08-'09 campaign and was also honored that season as BC's Unsung Hero while receiving the team's Outstanding Senior award. On top of those honors, Harris received the Hockey East Sportsmanship Award following her senior season.
While at Nichols Harris served as the assistant coach before being promoted to the head position in May of 2010. She also served as an assistant coach for the Bison's women's lacrosse program in that year as well.
During the summer of 2010, Harris served as an Intern Coach at the U17 USA Hockey Select Camp in Saint Cloud, MN in June as well as the Head Coach for the U14 USA Select Camp in Rochester, NY in July.
Since 2008, Harris has also worked closely with former NHL player Jeff Serowik at Pro Ambitions Hockey, instructing players at summer camps and skill sessions throughout the year.
Harris graduated with a BA in Communications & Marketing and a Masters of Administrative Studies from Boston College in 2009. A native of Buffalo, NY, Harris currently resides in Boston, MA and holds a Level 4 Coaches Certification.
