#12: Women's Hockey 4, New England College 0 (December 1, 2012)
Coming in at number 12 in the Top 12 of 2012 is women's hockey's 4-0 dominating victory over New England College. After a slow start to the fall season plagued by injuries and close losses, the Beacons put together their most impressive performance of the season.
Less than 20 hours after losing their third straight game, Sarahanne Cavolo (Roxbury, N.H.) and Kailyn Burke (Franklin, Mass.) helped UMass Boston break out in a huge way and earn their first home win of the season.
Cavolo scored just 18 seconds into the game and added the Beacons second goal midway through the third period en route to her first career multiple-goal game.
But as good as Cavolo was, Burke was even more impressive. The sophomore making just her second career start posted 17 saves, and earned her first career shutout.
As a team, UMass Boston outshot New England College 30-17 to down the Pilgrims for the first time since the 2009-10 season.
With the win the Beacons ended the 2012 on a high-note and hope they can ride that momentum into a huge second half of the 2012-13 season.
