Katie Mathieu, the all-time leader in program history in games played, begins her coaching career as a student assistant coach for the 2018-19 season. 

Mathieu appeared in a record 109 games over the past four seasons, including seeing time in a program record 29 games as a senior captain. 

Over the course of her four seasons, Mathieu led UMass Boston to three of the best seasons in program history. The Beacons made it to their first two Little East Conference Championship games in her first two years, before winning the program's first-ever LEC Title and making their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance as a senior. UMass Boston went 69-42 during her four seasons, including earning the program's first seven LEC Tournament victories. 

Mathieu finished her career third in program history in made 3-point field goals (137), fourth in 3-point field goal percentage (.325) and tied for 14th in career points (745).
