PAWTUCKET, R.I.—For the second time this season, UMass Boston freshman Shania Osborne (Fairfield, Conn.) was named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Osborne averaged 12 points, six rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game in a pair of conference contests. The freshman center also shot an incredibly efficient 84.6 percent (11-13) from the field.
On Wednesday night, Osborne tied for the team-lead with 11 points on 6-7 shooting, and added seven rebounds and two blocks against league-leader UMass Dartmouth.
She finished with 13 points, five rebounds and three blocks off the bench in the Beacons' record-setting win on Saturday. UMass Boston set the program record for single-season wins (20) and LEC wins (10) with their 77-46 victory over Plymouth State University.
Osborne and the Beacons will travel to the University of Southern Maine on Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m. The Beacons can clinch the number two overall seed in the LEC Tournament with a victory.
