BOSTON, Mass.—UMass Boston women's basketball freshman Joie Grassi (Plymouth, Mass.) was voted the " Division III News Top Sharpshooter in Division III Women's Basketball," in a poll taken late last month.
Grassi earned over 30,000 votes and 57 percent of the total votes, against a field of nine of the top shooters in all of Division III.
The Beacons' freshman forward leads the Little East Conference with her 53.7 3-point field goal percentage and sits sixth overall in all of Division III in 3-point field goal percentage.
She also sits 30th in the nation in field goal percentage (55.0) and is the only freshman to rank in the top 30 in both categories.
Grassi leads 10-1 women's basketball with her 17.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
UMass Boston will return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m., when UMass Boston takes on defending Little East Conference Regular Season Champion Eastern Connecticut State University.
