Owls Fly Past Women's Basketball

KEENE, N.H. – Led by Nikki Cote the Owls of Keene State College (13-5, 7-2 Little East) defeated women's basketball (5-14, 2-7 Little East) by the final score of 75-33 Saturday afternoon at Spaulding Gymnasium in the final Little East Conference meeting of the season between the two squads.

On top of Cote's game-high 13 points, the Owls defense held the Beacons one-two punch of Lauren Perra (Taunton, Mass.) and Kirsten Morrison to just single digits. Helping to add to Keene's lead was Sara Laudano who had 12 points, as Courtney Cirillo and Carly Kiernan who each dropped in 10 points.

For Morrison and Perra the freshmen combined for 11 points on the day respectively. Sophomore Shelby Buck (Greenfield, Ohio) was the lone Beacon to finish in double-figures as she came off the bench to record 11 points. Morrison did record a game-high nine rebounds, with five of those boards coming on the offensive side of the court.

UMass Boston was held to just 25.0% shooting on the day, while Keene was able to ride 42.9% shooting to the conference win. The Owls also converted the Beacons 26 turnovers to 36 points to help their cause as well.

Women's basketball returns to action next Saturday when they host Rhode Island College at 1 p.m. in the Clark Athletic Center.
