NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – For the third time this season, freshman center Kirsten Morrison (North Reading, Mass.) has been named the Little East Conference women's basketball Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office.
Morrison, who was named the NEWBA Rookie of the Week last Monday, earned her third weekly conference honor by averaging a team-leading 22.5 points per game. The North Reading native scored 30 points in Saturday's loss at Western Connecticut State University. Also in that game, Morrison combined for five rebounds as well.
In Tuesday's loss to Southern Maine, the 6'2" center produced 15 points and nine rebounds against the Huskies. On the week, Morrison was 13-for-33 (39.3%) from the field and 2-for-2 from 3-point range. At the line she was 17-for-20 (85.0%), which included a perfect 8-for-8 showing at Western Connecticut. On the glass she managed 11 defensive and three offensive boards. Morrison also tallied four assists, four steals, and three blocks respectively.
