BOSTON, Mass. – In one of the largest meets that they will compete in the year the cross country teams took part the 2016 NEICAAA Cross Country Championship Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
On the men's side it was Cameron Chase (Lutz, Fla.) who collected the best overall time for the Beacons. Chase posted a time of 28:29.60, as he continues to lead UMass Boston every time they compete. Right behind him was Rokas Piragis (Brockton, Mass.) with a time of 29:51.20, and Jeffrey Noyes (Weymouth, Mass.) with his time of 30:11.70.
For the women's team, they saw Patriciah Mulinge (Brockton, Mass.) lead the way with her strong time of 20:15.80 on the 5K course. Maddy Scott (Westhampton, Mass.) was the next Beacon to cross the finish line as the freshman posted a time of 21:53.50. Adrianna Fredo (Brockton, Mass.) and Maggie Hale (Albuquerque, N.M.) closed out Saturday's meet with times of 23:55.40 and 27:50.70 respectively.
Also producing a top-5 finish for the men's team was Jonny Long (Newton, Mass.), with his final time of 30:19.1 and Terry Williams (Saint Mary's Ga.), who tripped the sensor with a time of 30:19.50, in his first regional championship meet.
The Beacons will travel back to Franklin Park on Friday to take part in the Emmanuel College Saint's Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
