MEDFORD, Mass. – A pair of third place finishes lifted men's track and field to a 10th place finish at the Tufts University Branwen Smith-King Invitational Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The 4x400 meter relay team which consisted of Christian Hodgson (Leeds, Mass.), Adam Elyounssi, Logan Mitchell (Franklin, Mass.), and Adrian Higgins (Milton, Mass.) posted a final time of 3:34.25. Mitchell also earned a third place finish in the triple jump with a final leap of 42-05.25 feet. He also finished in seventh place in the long jump with a final distance of 20-09.75 feet.
Higgins earned a sixth place finish in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:26.96, while the 4x800-meter relay team of Prosper Lubega (Watertown, Mass.), William Barrett (Everett, Mass.), Jack Davis (Southwick, Mass.), Cameron Chase (Lutz, Fla.) recorded a combined time of 8:58.58.
Xavier Hill (Hyde Park, Mass.) earned a fourth place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 42-05.25 feet. In the weight throw Julian Collins (Asheville, N.C.) had a solid throw of 48-03.25 feet to earn eighth place overall.
In the 60-meter dash, Mitchell led the Beacons with a time of 7.52 seconds. Elyounssi finished with a time of 7.67 seconds, while Khorey James recorded a time of 7.71 seconds.
The 200-meter dash saw Elyounssi recorded a ninth place finish with a time of 23.81 seconds, with Mitchell recording the second fastest time of the 200 with a time of 24.10 seconds. Hodgson registered a time of 24.36 seconds to earn a top-20 finish. Hodgson also finished in 13th place in the 400 with a time of 53.05 seconds.
The Beacons compete at the NEICAAA Championship at the Reggie Lewis Center next Friday and Saturday.
