Men’s Track and Field Makes New England Debut at Snowflake Classic

MEDFORD, Mass. – In their 2018 outdoor New England debut men's track and field posted an eighth-place finish at the Tufts University Snowflake Classic Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The 4x100-meter relay team had the best performance in Saturday's New England debut as they took first place.  The team of Bless Amedoadzi, Garth Miriyoga, Dom Nda, and Stefan Powell recorded a combined time of 42.49 seconds.  Powell also had a top finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.22 seconds.  Nda sprinted his way to a third-place finish in the 200 with a time of 22.32 seconds, while Amedoadzi finished with a time of 22.87.

Jonathan Hysenaj registered a time of 12.03 seconds in the 100, while in the 400 Blake Lewis tripped the sensor with a time of 53.13 seconds.  Prosper Lubega also had a strong New England debut with a time of 55.10 seconds in the 400.

William Barrett earned a top-25 finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.27, while in the 1,500-meter run Jimmy Cannon earned a time of 4:21.47 to also finish in the top-25.  Xavier Hill earned a time of 19.15 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and finished with a leap of 19-02.00 feet in the long jump.

The Beacons also had relay teams compete in the 4x400 and 4x800.  The 4x4 team registered a time of 3:39.79, while the 4x8 team posted a third place finish with a time of 9:04.76.  Themo Liakopoulos finished with a throw of 35-11.25 feet in the shot put, while Julian Collins finished in third place with a distance of 142-01 feet in the hammer throw.  Ricardo Maldonado finished in 10th place in the javelin throw with a final distance of 154-11 feet.
