Alex Loyer Earns ITA Scholar-Athlete Award

BOSTON, Mass.—Senior Alex Loyer (Chelsmford, Mass.) has been named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete for the first time in his career.

Loyer earned the award for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 (4.0) scale or better for the 2012-13 academic year.

The Beacons senior co-captain and number three singles player led UMass Boston to their first ever Little East Conference Regular Season Title and first trip to the NCAA Tournament in school history. He led the Beacons to a program-record 14 wins and paced the squad with a 29-7 overall mark between singles and doubles play.

Over the second half of the season Loyer carried a 26-game winning streak, including finishing a perfect 15-0 against Little East competitors.
