Hope College Downs Men's Tennis in Spring Trip Finale

ORLANDO, Fla. – In their final match of the 2013 Florida spring trip, men's tennis (2-3) was handed an 8-1 loss by Hope College (7-2) Thursday afternoon at Lake Cane Tennis Center.

Recording the only win for the Beacons in the spring trip finale was Alex Loyer (Chelmsford, Mass.) at second singles.  The senior battled it out with Hope's Parker Bussies as they went to a tie-breaker before earning the win.

Bussies defeated Loyer in the first set 7-5, but the Chelmsford native battled right back earning a 7-6 (7-1) and 10-5 decision to earn the Beacons lone point of the day.  Charles Lai (Boston, Mass.) also played a strong match at third singles but was eventually defeated by Jason Muller 6-4, 6-1.

In doubles play David Hernandez (Bogota, Colombia) and Lai were handed a very tough 8-4 loss at first flight.  Loyer and Seth Shavers (Boston, Mass.) were also handed an 8-4 loss at second flight.

Men's Tennis returns to action next Thursday when they travel to Eastern Nazarene College for 3:30 p.m. non-conference match.
