Men's Tennis Has Strong Showing in Fall Tournament
BOSTON, Mass. – Led by Alex Loyer the men's tennis team capped off a very productive fall season as they recorded strong finishes in the 2011 Eastern Nazarene College Invitational Tournament. Loyer led the Beacons as he advanced to the championship round of the tournament.
On the first day of the tournament Loyer defeated Matt Buchalter by the final of 6-1, 6-2. He then knocked off Brandon Lum of Eastern Nazarene College by the final of 6-4, 6-4. In the championship match Austin Steelman of Eastern Nazarene edged Loyer by the final of 6-2, 6-2.
Also competing in the singles tournament was Charles Lai. Lai won his first round match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. He was then defeated in the semi-final round by Steelman by the final of 6-2, 4-6 (10-7).
In doubles play Lyle Analetto (Belmont, Mass.) and Andrey Boguslavskiy (Volgograd, Russia) won their first round match by the final of 6-0, 7-5. In the semi-final round they were defeated eventual champions by the final of 6-1, 6-1. Teaming an Eastern Nazarene player was Brian Sou (Revere, Mass.). The duo fell in the first round of the tournament by the final of 6-3, 6-2.
